Kenya Hosts Safari Rally Championship 2021
Finally, the long-awaited prestigious, historic and high octane Safari Rally Championship is happening. This is a culmination of a nineteen-year-old dream of Kenya hosting the motorsport after missing out on the World Rally Championship for a while. The Safari Rally Championship is known globally as a very intense and challenging sport.
The kick-off is on Friday from the Main Service Park in Naivasha. The motorsport has attracted 58 entrants who will be battling it out in the lush-green and touristic Naivasha landscape.
The Kenya Tourism Board is leveraging on this spectacular event to showcase the country’s scintillating national parks and game reserves. In fact, they have offered 20 free packages of goodies to 20 foreign journalists who will be visiting these different parks.
The hospitality industry is expected to benefit from the sport as 6 billion Kenyan shillings is approximated to be pumped into the economy. Tourists will get to experience the generosity, welcoming and friendly spirit that defines Kenyans.
This is happening against the blurry backdrop of COVID-19 which has ravaged the economy. Thus, spectators are expected to strictly adhere to COVID-19 protocols.
