Kenya’s Crying Stone: All You Need To Know
Kenya is naturally, heavily and diversely endowed when it comes to tourism – from action-packed
savannahs to snow-crowned mountains; from sunny beaches to scintillating wildlife.
Of all the eye-catching sceneries, the Crying Stone steals the show! It is another dramatic extreme, a
phenomenal touristic feature in Kakamega, Kenya.
It stands tall, unbowed in stature, with a large stream of tears incessantly flowing down and
crashing on the napping rocks in colourful splashes. Standing at the foot of the magical stone, you will experience every bit of this masterpiece ranging from the songs, crying, poetry to random hisses.
The stone rises and towers at the centre of Luyha culture as it is believed to connect the
community with gods. When it cries, sheer bliss spread over the community as it signals a bumper
harvest.
Notably, the Luhya community believed this stone helped them to win wars. They associated the stone with tremendous supernatural powers which assured the whole community of victory. The mystic rock has been a safe, warm and ultimate home for pilgrims around the world. It provides a rich space of solitude, for souls to completely revel deeply into their cause and faith.
