Junior Pope: Nigerian Movie Actor Dies In Boat Accident

Nollywood actor Junior Pope Odonwodo popularly referred to as Jnr Pope, has sadly passed away in a boat accident while on his way to shoot a movie in the Delta state of Nigeria. It was first claimed that he had survived the accident when medical professionals tried to revive the movie star in a hospital.
Filmmaker Sam Olatunji announced the actor’s death on Wednesday, April 10, stating that he and three other people died after falling into a river. They were on their way to a movie site when the sad tragedy occurred.
Social media users posted videos of rescuers carrying the actor—who looked to be unconscious—out of River Niger, the scene of the late-night tragedy on Wednesday.
The 39-year-old actor posted a video of himself and four other people travelling to the movie set on a boat on his Instagram feed a few hours before the disaster.
He could be heard praying for a safe journey and voicing worries about the absence of safety precautions.
With almost 150 Nollywood films to his credit, Junior Pope is most recognised for his performances as a hitman, bodyguard, criminal, and villain.
Actors who are his peers have lamented him on social media.
